Success in Martial Arts or Everything’s Relative

This past weekend Elite Taekwon-Do Academy in North County Dublin was ranked 1st of 27 competing schools at the ITF Ireland Cup in Cork. Naturally we’re all delighted with the accolade and rightly so but we should remember that our success is relative.

While the result at the weekend is a public and tangible representation of our success as a school it doesn’t begin to tell the whole story. In recent weeks at our school, at the request of parents, we have helped students with issues such as diet and bullying. On a regular basis we help students with conditions such as ADD/ADHD and Dyspraxia.

These successes show the real value of Taekwon-Do training, helping students conquer real problems in their day to day lives. Trophies and honours such as we received at the weekend are fantastic but competition should never be the measure of success in our martial arts journey.
