Elite Taekwon-Do Academy’s Annual Summer Camp was held between July 7th and 10th and proved to be a great hit with the camp attendees. Over the course of the four days students worked on fun kicking drills, Self-Defence, Sparring Competitions, and Patterns Competitions.
In addition to the Taekwon-Do action, participants also played lots of games such as Dodge Ball, Noodle Wars, tag etc.
One of the Camp highlights was our trip to beautiful Loughshinny Beach where Sam Cummins showed everyone the “Smugglers Cave” he had discovered.
As usual, everybody had a great time and at least one student, Ava Kearns was disappointed that the camp only ran for one week. Ah well Ava, theres always next year.
Many thanks to Matthew, Clare, and Barry for their help in leading the camp and also to Pipina, Sarah, and Keeva for the wonderful cakes they made for everyone.
Summer Camp almost here.

See you all Monday 7th from 9.50am
ETA Loughshinny’s “Students of the Year” were awarded recently during our last class of the current season. Awards were presented to the students from each of our classes who have demonstrated commendable Attitude, Attendance, and Ability over the past year.
In our beginner to yellow belt class the award was presented to Robbie Swarbrigg, in our Junior Intermediate class our winner was Emilia Zivkovic, and in our senior class awards were presented jointly to Carly Pagett and Carl McGrath. All of these members helped set the benchmark for our other students for the future and their effort and commitment was greatly appreciated.
Our “Competitor of the Year” was Samy Lamari, who won many tournaments this year in both Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing, the highlight being his Gold Medal at the European Championships in Italy in April. Very well done Samy.
On Wednesday 30th of April our Kubz class in Loughsinny tested for their stripes and theme awards and everybody acquitted themselves fantastically. After 6 months of developing their fitness, agility, flexibility and Taekwon-Do skills, our Kubz had the opportunity to display their progress to family and friends.
Each stripe level was tested in groups with the requirements and the skill level increasing as the stripe levels increased. White stripe testers demonstrated our basic techniques, yellow stripes took things a stage further with some basic combinations while the green stripes demonstrated some exciting advanced advanced combos. Before the decision was made on who could pass or fail, students had to answer questions on diet, sleeping habits, exercise, and personal safety.
At the end of the test all of our Kubz were deemed successful and promoted to their next level. Four of our longest serving Kubz Lucas, Alexia Angelova, Callum Sethi, and Finn Dice were also awarded their Junior Kubz Instructor patch which means they can now help demonstrate and assist in class, well done Guys!
